YogaPaws joined MeiMei Fox for the Expedition: Blue Planet with Alexandra Cousteau in 2009. Below are images and video of this incredible journey across the world.
National Geographic Emerging Explorer Alexandra Cousteau is part of one of the world's most famous environmental dynasties. She is grand-daughter of legend Jacques-Yves Cousteau who first started teaching her to dive at the age of seven. She left on her first expedition with her father Philippe and mother Jan to Easter Island, Chile when she was just 4 months old.
Today, she takes that rich legacy of environmental advocacy, exploration, and storytelling and moves it forward with Blue Legacy, a Washington, D.C.–based nonprofit that she founded in 2008 to leverage new and emerging technologies to connect mainstream audiences with their local watersheds and their water planet.
EXPEDITION BLUE PLANET 2009
The Expedition: Blue Planet chronicled the interconnectivity of water. A key aspect of the project was its ability to show how individual stories are part of the larger, universal story of an interdependent, global water ecosystem. In this way, we created a new vision for what it means to live in a world where water is our most precious resource and a plan for what we must do to protect it. 100 days, 8 critical water stories, 5 continents, 1 Mission...to tell the story of our water planet.
“MeiMei Fox joined my Expedition: Blue Planet team as the Expedition Writer for our three-month journey around the world. She wrote the daily blogs, which provided an excellent in-depth investigation of critical water issues. Even though she had never worked in film before, MeiMei leaped into co-authoring our short films, writing voiceovers, pieces-to-camera, and eventually complete scripts. I was most impressed with her willingness and ability to take on any task that presented itself. MeiMei’s enthusiasm and positive outlook buoyed all our spirits. It was a delight to have her on our team. I look forward to working with her again.”
Founder, Blue Legacy and Leader of Expedition: Blue Planet
I just spent 3 months traveling the world exploring and making short films about critical water issues as Writer for Alexandra Cousteau's Expedition: Blue Planet. I brought along several sets of Yoga Paws for myself and the team, and they proved to be a lifesaver! They are so incredibly handy, eco-friendly, small and easy to carry in your suitcase, take with you anywhere, use them in your hotel room or out on a pool deck or wherever. We were on a crazy schedule. Whenever I had at least 15 minutes, I would strap on my paws and do some yoga -- in India, Botswana, Cape Town, Jordan, Israel and Palestine, and even back in the US. I LOVE THEM! Thank you, Yoga Paws, for keeping me committed to my yoga practice while traveling with your practical, simple, and effective solution! I highly recommend Yoga Paws to anyone who wants to take their practice on the road. --MeiMei Fox
